RETINOSCOPY in ASTIGMATISM | Break, intensity , brightness and skew | Straddling
This video talks in detail about retinoscopy aspects in an astigmatic eye. Unlike spherical errors there is different power along different meridians in astigmatism. In astigmatism there are two principle meridians , the flattest and the steepest meridians which forms the principle meridians . the refrcation along them is not same. Doing retinoscopy, an objective method of refraction, we can determine the axis of eye and even detect astigmatism in the eye .

the 4 characteristcs of a reflex that help in the estimation of the astigmatism are the break, intensity of the reflex, Brightness of the reflex and the SKEW . once the axis of the cylinder is determined , the axis can be refined using the STRADDLING TECHNIQUE in the retinoscopy.
