WA2307 Castell Bach Hillfort, Ceredigion http://hillforts.arch.ox.ac.uk/

Coastal promontory fort sited on NW-facing coastal headland plateau near a small bay to SW and near to where the Afon Fynnon Ddewi meets the sea to NE. Sea cliffs to N and W, steep slopes to E and S. Most northerly of coastal promontory forts in Ceredigion.
Rampart circuit now possibly only a quarter of what could have been a circle in prehistory and interior of the fort now very small as a result of substantial sea erosion.

A "Drone Egg" is a short movie of Cinematic footage of spectacular scenery, involving fly rounds and other neat cinematic moves. In this case we have one of Ceredigion’s crumbling Hillforts now nearly 70% lost to the Sea. We also have some dramatically warped strata in the cliffs and coves and a wooded valley where the Afon Fynnon Ddewi discharges onto the beach and into the Sea. Among the multicoloured bracken and Gorse the rich colour of the pervasive Emerald is not wholly ‘owned’ by Eire as this footage proves. Wales in June can be beautiful especially on this dramatic coastline with features within the landscape that exude a sense of 'Genus Loci' ~ the spirit of place. In other words, very special locations that mean things to aeons of humanity and somehow give off a vibe to those sensitive enough to feel it.

In the distance can be seen the spectacular promontory Hillfort of Pendinaslochdyn, iconic in its splendour above the popular cove resort of Llangranog. Cwm Tydu 'The valley of the black house' an approximate translation, can be seen three quarters of the way through and as it is cast under the great slab cliff of the Pen Moel Cilliau rising 200 metres behind it shadowing the Cwm~ valley from the Sun even in the middle of the year.
I am yet to spot a Dolphin or Seal in this area even though they are sometimes abundant, but on some of the footage from the same day (Not included) I did spot some rather large Jellyfish or "Wibbly Wobblys" is what I believe they are known as locally. I will include this on a future video
Around west Wales from here in Ceredigion down the coast into Pembrokeshire and beyond is strategically laced with Promontory and hill and clifftop fortifications from the Iron Age. Many of which are sadly crumbling into the Sea. Which begs the question, that as these seeming robust and hard rock cliffs are eroding continuously into the Sea , could it be the case that some have been entirely lost over the millennia? There are no further coastal hillforts north from here in Ceredigion for 30 miles (50 Kilometres) until the mighty Pen Dinas in Aberystwyth.
This coast also is a playground for Paddleboarders, Kayaks, Yacht's and hmm.. powerful motor boats, a careful look, highlights swimming birdlife that has to make hasty exit's out of the way of the speeding boat that is included.
As this was a bright day in June I used a ND32 filter which really helped to bring out the bold colours. Sadly I shot this footage in 1080 which means that 4K rendering is not appropriate.
Music: Once more a piece I wrote with the footage in mind and the one thing that really stood out was the profound emerald Colour of some of the footage ~ beautiful ! I wanted to create an atmosphere of a dreamy summers day. I hope you enjoy it!
