Pongal is a festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu. It is also known as the Harvest Festival of Tamil Nadu. It is celebrated in four days. Each day has different rituals and beliefs.


On the first day, Lord Indra is worshiped. Thanks to the weather itself to improve the crop. He also prays that next year's harvest will be good.


Second day ceremony is called Pongal Bogi Mandal. Ceremony to put waste items on fire. Dung and wood are used to light the fire. There will be pooja on the second day and boil the rice in milk. This is done by setting the stove outside the house. This place may be cluttered. The turmeric is tied in a bowl. Rice, sugarcane, fruits and nuts are offered to the sun.

The third day is known as Mattupongal. This is the day for the cattle. They are decorated and worshiped. They will be adored. It is believed that Lord Shiva cursed Nandi, his vehicle, and Nandi reached the land and helped the farmers to clear the land.


On the fourth day relatives and friends get together and give presents. On this day, gifts will be given to those who work under them also.
