On today's Tech, No Babel: Directing a live video production

In this episode, I'm going to show you video from one of the times I directed last year. Normally, directors give camera ops lots of direction for the shots they want. When I'm directing live video, I don't do it this way.

Instead, I give a few general cues, but mostly let my camera people have free reign. There are a couple of reasons why I do this. First, they're in a different room than I am, so they see what I don't.

Secondly, my brain runs much faster than my mouth does (I'm a slow talker anyway), so by the time I could get my thoughts out, my brain has moved on.
