Addressing the press at the White House, the US president expressed frustration with the court’s ruling and slammed justices who defied his calls to keep his sweeping tariffs in place, an apparent reference to conservative justices who joined with liberal justices to strike them down.

“The Supreme Court’s ruling on tariffs is deeply disappointing, and I’m ashamed of certain members of the court, absolutely ashamed, for not having the courage to do what’s right for our country”, he said.

Even as he rails against the court’s decision, Trump says the “good news” is other methods – in reference to several other federal tariffs – that could prove “even stronger than the IEEPA tariffs”.

“We have alternatives,” he said. “We have alternatives, and we could take in more money, and be a lot stronger for it.”
