Explore 40km of the Belgium–Germany border in this unique 2-day hike!
Together with @wandersocken, we follow the invisible line that separates our two countries — starting near Gut Heistert and ending in Losheim. This is part of our ongoing border-hiking project from the Vaalserberg (BE-NL-DE) to Ouren (BE-DE-LU).

Our self-made route sticks close to the border, taking us through the vast Elsenborn military zone, into the stunning Olef Valley, and away from noisy roads.
At Hollerath Knie, we pass a site rich in WWII history — where the Ardennes Offensive began in 1944.
We spend the night at a working farm in Ramscheid, complete with horses, cows, chickens, and a warm welcome.
On day two, we hike past Weißer Stein, the highest point on the border (715m), climb a watchtower, and enjoy a break with hot soup in a cozy Biergarten.
From there, we enter the peaceful valley of the Our, hiking near the source of the river that we’ll follow again in future stages.
We finish along an old railway line, now a cycling path, but choose the smaller track beside it — perfect for hiking (and the dog).

The weather was cold for May, but we stayed mostly dry. Day one: 21km. Day two: 19km.
