2. UPSOUND (Italian) Martina Vergnano, activist with the Social Centers of the Northeast:
"The intentions behind this demonstration have been clear from the outset and remain the same: to shine the spotlight of the Film Festival in the right direction. Right now, that direction is Palestine. The news is getting worse every day after 80 years of occupation. We are currently witnessing genocide in every sense of the word. It can no longer be denied. Even the latest developments with the occupation of Gaza have seen yet another bombing of a hospital in the last few hours. The atrocities must be stopped, they must be stopped now. This is genocide, no one can deny it anymore. And it is time to demand that it be stopped. It is time to demand that it be stopped by denouncing those who are directly complicit in the genocide and the genocidal government of Israel. Because Western governments, led by the United States, but also our very own Italian government, are directly involved, with international complicity and without putting any brakes on the sale of weapons, military equipment, and military software to Israel, which is directing them directly against the Palestinian people, attempting to carry out ethnic cleansing and, to all intents and purposes, genocide."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Nahabi Telafai, activist with the Social Centers of the Northeast:
"So on Saturday we've called for a manifestation, a demonstration to stop the genocide that's happening right now in Palestine and to, sort of point the, the eyes of the star system, not in, you know, the pretty dresses of the, of the festival, but actually on, what is happening and the genocide and the violence that is ongoing right now in Palestine, so, yeah, this is the plan. The people who... the signatures are like more than 100 of different organizations and people from the film industry that actually subscribe to the call for action. Even the presenter of the festival is in solidarity with the demonstration. So, we hope a lot of people will come and actually do sort of point the eyes of the world and what is happening in Gaza and in all Palestine."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Nahabi Telafai, activist with the Social Centers of the Northeast:
"What we want to do right now is actually to bring the attention to what is happening, bring awareness, and have this sort of pool of people to ask for this to stop. This is one of the main claims, to stop that selling arms and armaments to the Israeli regime, to stop diplomatic accords with the Israeli regime. So, yeah. Sort of isolate the Israeli state, which is right now committing genocide and war crimes. We know, that Netanyahu is a researched war criminal. So this has to stop."
