In this video, I talk with Julie Seal-Gaustad, CEO of Mirus Promotions, about the keys to managing millennials. In order to effectively lead a team, you need to develop good leadership skills. By following Julie’s insight on how she’s been able to successfully grow her business with a team of millennials, you can encourage great performance and inspire more out of your employees.

For Julie, it starts with the recruitment process. When hiring new employees, she has a four-step interview process that is designed to find people who are serious about growing both personally and within the company. As part of the screening process, she makes sure that people who don’t genuinely seem like great candidates get removed after the phone interview.

Another important aspect of managing millennials is having an extensive training process. Once someone is hired, there is a two-week training period that ensures each new employee is prepared for their role within the organization. Part of having good leadership skills is helping people develop their talents and skills so that they can perform at their best. Mentors provide lots of value to new employees and help them avoid getting overwhelmed when they first start.

Another important lesson that Julie offers is to help your employees grow. She advises leaders to teach their employees as much as possible with the hopes that they will stay. When you provide value to your employees, it goes a long way and helps build trust and loyalty.
