How to Install Boat Hatches in an Old Boat | Boat Building and Boat Restoration (Ep21)

Welcome to my boat building channel! This is my trawler restoration of an Albin 27 pocket trawler. Every couple of weeks I post a boat building or boat repair video to document various boat projects, sailboat restorations, or boat repairs.

This episode I'm installing boat hatches all over my pocket trawler. I love boat hatches and portholes! Installing marine hatches and portholes add light to your boats interior. The Albin 27 pocket trawler came with eleven portholes and one marine hatch. I explain how I installed two boat hatches on a curved surface solving the problem of deck camber. I review two brands of boat hatches and portholes and discuss how to find a bargain when it comes to marine hatches. I talk about Beckson Marine hatches and Bomar boat hatches.

The Albin 27 was manufactured in the New England area of the United States from approximately 1983 to 1992. There were reportedly 500-600 of these boats manufactured. The Albin 27 is trailerable and weighed approximately 6,500 pounds from the factory. It is a true pocket trawler with a forward and aft cabin, galley, head, and pilothouse helm.
