What is Gel Electrophoresis?

How was the first person cured of HIV, and how was Gel Electrophoresis used to do it? This video is an introduction to the molecular biology technique of Gel Electrophoresis and discusses how to interpret DNA agarose gels, all within the context of the story of the first person who was ever "cured" of HIV!

Note that this video does bnot discuss details about how to actually run a gel (what type of buffer or what voltage to use, how many ul of loading dye to add to each DNA sample, etc). Instead, it introduces the foundational concepts of 1) how Gel Electrophoresis works and 2) how to interpret a gel.
