"Vinod, closely related to Raag Barwa, is a creation of Ram Chatur Mallik's father Rajit Ram, whose penname "Ramakrishna" appears in the concluding stanza. It is a family Raga of the Malliks, to be found in no textbook and published here for the first time. The text is directed to the god Krishna, who has left his life as a simple cowherd in his native village to become the kind of faraway Dwarka."

My beloved has not come home, o friend,
how shall I remain patient?
In my blossoming youth, the separation tortures me,
How shall I endure night and day?
You have gone to Dwarka and settled there,
the wrath of the god of love is burning my body.
O lord of Ramakrishna, let it not be like this!
