The Groove

The groove for the smurf, like other grooves, should be a smooth motion done throughout the dance. First, drop your chest, bending at the knees. Then lift your chest back up while straightening your legs. This is the reset, so after this, drop your chest again while bending your knees, starting all over again.

Adding the Arms
1. Start with your right elbow held up and pointing to your right, hand balled up in a fist. Reach your fist out forward, slowly straightening your arm. Once it's completely straight, your left arm should be cocking back, hand in a fist, above stomach level. 

2. Lower your right arm slowly while raising your left arm. Cock your right arm back above stomach level while reaching your left fist out forward, slowly straightening the arm. Once it's completely straight, your right arm should be raising up. Move your right arm forward until it's back where it started.

While doing the arm movements, you should continuously be doing the groove.

Legs

With your legs, you'll be doing a two step. To learn more about two steps, visit the two step lesson in this course.

For this dance's two step, start with your feet together. Step your right leg out to the right, then bring it back in so that your feet are touching again. Step your left leg out to the left, then bring it back in like you did the right leg. Repeat throughout the dance.

Adding the Legs
To add the legs to this move, every time your fist is reaching out forward, you should be stepping out with that leg. Whenever that arm is being lowered, your leg should be stepping back in. Once you add the legs, you'll be doing the full smurf.
