Continuing to delve into media about Japan (quite unintentionally, actually), we are talking about FX's Shogun this week. This is actually based on a book and there already was a TV show about it decades ago, but I'm familiar with neither. This certainly scratches a certain Game of Thrones itch (the one related to the scheming for the throne in particular) but I really enjoy diving into Japanese culture and society. Watching legendary actor Hiroyuki Sanada in anything is a treat and seeing him here front and centre, under pressure from all of his adversaries, is simply wonderful.

Definitely check this out if you want a slow burn show offering a lot of insight into people, societal structures and cultural prejudices.
