Freising is a university town in Bavaria, Germany, with a population of around 50,000. Freising is the oldest city between Regensburg and Bolzano, located on the Isar River in Upper Bavaria, north of Munich and close to Munich International Airport.
The city is built on and around two prominent hills: the Cathedral Hill with the former bishop's seat and Freising Cathedral, and the Weihenstephan Hill with the former Weihenstephan Abbey, home to the oldest working brewery in the world. It was also the site of Europe's first recorded tornado.
The Freising-Weihenstephan Campus is a large complex of higher education institutions and research institutes in the western urban area of ​​Freising, in the Weihenstephan and Vötting districts. Over the decades, it has developed into the so-called "Green Center of Bavaria" and continues to be modernized and designed as a "research campus".
