In this tutorial, we will learn how to use Cheat Engine and create a trainer for a game.
Step 1: Launching the Game and Cheat Engine
First, start the game, then open Cheat Engine. Next, select the game process by clicking on "Open Process" in Cheat Engine. For this example, we will use the game The Devil Within: Satgat.
Step 2: Finding the Health Value
We want to make the health infinite in the game. To do this, we need to find the health value. In some games, you can check the settings menu or the in-game HUD to see the exact health value. In this game, the maximum health is displayed as 100 when fully restored.
Step 3: Searching for the Health Value in Cheat Engine
In Cheat Engine:
1. Set Value Type to "All" if you’re unsure about the data type.
2. Enter 100 as the value and start the search.
This will give us a list of possible memory addresses where the health value is stored. In the next steps, we will refine the search and modify the value to make the health infinite.
Step 4: Narrowing Down the Address List
To reduce the number of found addresses, we need to change the health value by taking damage.
1. Take some damage in the game so that your health decreases.
2. In Cheat Engine, set Scan Type to "Decreased Value" and scan again.
3. Repeat this process multiple times to further refine the results.
Similarly, when you increase your health (e.g., by healing), set Scan Type to "Increased Value" and scan again. If the health remains unchanged, set Scan Type to "Unchanged Value" and scan.
Step 5: Freezing the Health Value
Once we have identified the correct address for health:
1. Move the address to the lower panel in Cheat Engine.
2. Set its value to the maximum health (e.g., 100).
3. Check the box next to it to freeze the value, making health infinite.
Now, your health will no longer decrease, effectively granting infinite health in the game! 🎮🔥
Step 6: Finding the Pointer (Permanent Address)
The address we found is temporary, meaning it will change when the game is restarted or sometimes even when switching levels. Because of this, we need to find the pointer—the reference that writes the value to this memory address.
To do this:
1. Right-click on the health address in Cheat Engine.
2. Select "Pointer scan for this address."
3. Enter the displayed values and save the scan.
4. Cheat Engine will now search for pointers and return a list of possible results.
Using a pointer ensures that we always have the correct memory address, even after restarting the game. In the next step, we will refine the search to find a stable pointer that works every time.
Step 7: Finding the Best Pointer
To ensure the pointer remains valid even after restarting the game, we need to filter out unstable pointers.
1. Restart the game and scan for the pointer again using its stored value.
2. This will reduce the number of found pointers, making it easier to identify the best one.
3. Set the Value Type according to the type of the address you found. In this case, it's Float.
Repeat this process:
• Close and reopen the game, attach Cheat Engine to the process, and scan again from the pointer list.
• The more times you do this, the more unreliable pointers get filtered out.
• Once you find a stable pointer that works even after restarting, you can use it to create a trainer.

Step 8: Creating the Trainer
Now that we have a reliable pointer, we can create a trainer to automate the cheat.
1. Go to the "File" tab in Cheat Engine.
2. Select "Generate Generic Trainer" to start creating the trainer.
3. In the new window, select the pointer from the left panel.
4. Click on "Add Hotkey" and set the key you want to activate the cheat.
5. In the bottom section, set the action to "Freeze value", since we want the health to remain unchanged.
6. Click Apply and OK.
Step 9: Customizing and Exporting the Trainer
1. Choose an icon for the trainer.
2. Add optional descriptions or enable sound effects for activation/deactivation.
3. Set the output format to EXE.
4. Click "Generate Trainer."
5. In the pop-up window, select "Tiny" for a compact trainer and click Generate again.
Your trainer is now ready! 🎮🔥
By running the trainer, you no longer need to open Cheat Engine. You can use this method to freeze or set unlimited values for health, energy, ammo, and more.
