BRADENTON, Fla. — A Florida woman is facing first-degree murder charges after investigators say she shot and killed both of her ex-husbands within hours on the same day.

Authorities identified the suspect as Susan Avalon, 51.

Deputies say the first shooting happened December 17 in Bradenton. A 54-year-old man was shot in the abdomen after answering his front door. Before dying at a hospital later that night, he told officers he believed his ex-wife was responsible.

Investigators say Avalon allegedly used food from Panera Bread to lure him to the door. Surveillance footage showed the order was unpaid and not hers.

When deputies later located Avalon, they say she was wiping down her vehicle with bleach. Asked about her ex-husband, Avalon allegedly replied, “Which one?”

That response led authorities to Tampa, where a welfare check uncovered her second ex-husband dead from gunshot wounds inside his home.

Investigators believe Avalon shot the Tampa victim first, then drove to Bradenton for the second killing. She has been charged with first-degree murder, and prosecutors say the death penalty is being considered. Additional charges are expected.
