bugs odyssey !! ant

hiiiii !!1!!1! i’m alive and with a new project,,,, more bug music !!! :D

i present u “bugs odyssey” (or at least that’s how i’m calling it for now). it’s going to be an album with not so many tracks, but i want them to be long, with parts that develop slowly and make u feel like the bug is having a little adventure. that’s why i also wanted to make these animations, and also that’s why it took longer than i expected lol.
since my other videos were very simple, i had practically no experience with animations of this kind nor with video editing, so i had to learn many things and failed multiple times,,,, but here it is and i’m very happy with how it turned out !!

anyway, ants are so cool. i feel like since they are one of the most known bugs and we're used to seeing them in many places, they aren’t very appreciated, but they’re pretty mesmerizing when you pay attention to them. the way they organize themselves and how they coordinate movements. they’re like a definition of ‘together we are strong’ and i find that kind of beautiful.
when i see a single ant, far from the rest, i feel like they’re going on an adventure searching for something, like little heroes from an rpg or something like that.
i wanted to portray that feeling in the music and the track turned out this way and i’m proud of it.

the whole idea started one night in the park. i was watching some ants and i unconsciously started singing the main melody that you hear in this track. then i thought “where was that from?”, and i remembered it was actually an old composition of mine of less than 1 minute long. since i loved working on the bugs album and many people liked it too, and also since some of them asked for an ant track i thought: “let’s do this”. i wanted to have a similar sound in some ways to the first bug album and bring back some instruments and things i used for it, but also i wanted it to feel different because it is a different project, made by a different me (i feel like so much time passed and so many things happened and changed in my life !!)

at some point of the composition i thought that it would be super cool to have an animation like this so i started working on it.
for the art style, i wanted to experiment with another tool so i used a fine point permanent marker for the line art. then i thought that painting them more roughly would look great, so for the coloring i worked with that in mind.

at that time my biology classes had already started so i had much less time, but now i’m finished with them so there’s gonna be more things coming up :]
