The Pyrgauchenia is one of the most original creatures we ever filmed (the insect footage in this video is real). They are treehoppers, who like their other colleagues from the Membracidae family, feed on plant sap, extracted thanks to their piercing mouthparts. It is said that their "antennae" (which are actually enlarged pronotum structures) help them camouflage by resembling thorns.
These ones were filmed in Batangas (Philippines), and relocated into an imaginary alien world by Michael Perfect
