PINK - Aerosmith’s Z100-Inspired Cover | Full Remote Band with some Joe Perry Guitar Magic

"Pink" is a playful, genre-bending track from Aerosmith’s Nine Lives (1997), written by Steven Tyler, Richie Supa, and Glen Ballard. Known for its suggestive lyrics, the song explores fascination and desire through vivid imagery—where the colour pink symbolises more than just a shade; it represents passion, spontaneity, and boldness. It’s also a technically interesting piece, blending acoustic rhythms, jangling electric guitars, and Steven Tyler’s signature harmonica intro.

For this cover, we drew inspiration from Aerosmith’s live performance on Z100 Radio. We kicked it off with the final chorus as the intro, just like they did live in 1997. Though the song may seem simple at first, it presents challenges in maintaining tight tempo, the background harmonies were a challenge to decipher, and nailing those intriguing chords at the end of each chorus—chords we closely studied from Joe Perry's 1998 live performance. We were lucky enough to weave a subtle layer of Perry's original guitar track, using Guitar Hero stems to add texture during a few key moments.

This cover is part of our ReconnectAndo project, celebrating authentic, single-take performances. By embracing the quirks and imperfections of remote collaborations, we honour Aerosmith’s bold spirit while adding our own unique flavour.

The video features a mix of our recordings and scenic takes, and we had a blast working on it.
