Zoonotic diseases are infectious diseases of humans caused by pathogens from non-humans to humans. The major diseases are the Ebola virus, bird flu, swine flu, influenza, and rabies. Zoonoses have different modes of transmission, such as direct, intermediate, and reverse zoonoses. The infections are caused; by contaminated food and water. Bacteria, viruses, and parasites can cause a wide variety of an infection. The Healthcare-associated infection known as the nosocomial infection spreads to the patient through a catheter (urinary tract infection), central line (bloodstream infections), surgical site infection, and pneumonia. Based on the NMC CBME curriculum for medical students, this module provides in-depth information regarding zoonotic diseases and other infectious disorders.
