The battle of Plattsburgh - the battle that saved New England

Описание к видео The battle of Plattsburgh - the battle that saved New England

A description of the Battle of Plattsburgh, fought on 11th September 1814. The British are preparing an invasion of the northern US States, but to supply their army they need to secure naval superiority on Lake Champlain, a highly strategic ribbon of water straddling the border.

In terms of numbers of ships and crew, the resulting clash is the biggest decisive naval battle ever fought between Britain and the United States. At stake is the continued presence of the New England States in the USA!

The larger sailing ship models used in this video are scratch built, based upon the excellent designs of Jeffrey Knusden of the War Artizans workshop. Find them here http://warartisan.com/

The smaller rowing galleys are conversions of Langton Miniatures. Find them at http://www.rodlangton.com/

If you would like to know a little more about this battle, the scenario this video is largely based upon is available from the Wargames Vault at https://www.wargamevault.com/product/...

If you would like to try your hand at doing better than Macdonagh or Downie, or even Perry or Barclay, you can refight the naval battles of the war of 1812 with the "Northern Moat" rules, available from the Wargames vault at https://www.wargamevault.com/product/...
