A pair of historic French Naval jets, a Morane-Saulnier MS.760 Paris and a Fouga CM.175 Zephyr, provided a rare treat for the crowd at the RNAS Yeovilton International Air Day 2018.

The one-off MS755 Fleuret was Morane-Saulnier's unsuccessful French Air Force jet trainer proposal, losing out to the Four Magister. From it was developed the four-seat MS760 Paris liaison aircraft, which proved more prosperous. The French Air Force, Army and Navy all employed it and there were limited foreign sales achieved too:L Argentina and Brazil taking 78 examples between them, most of which were licence-built. Not many MS.760s now fly. This one, airworthy in private hands since 27th May 2003, is operated by the Armor Aero Passion group in France. Flown by George Toussaint and Thomas Meslin, this was its UK mainland debut.

The distinctively 'V' tailed Fouga CM175 Zéphyr ('gentle breeze') was developed from the land-based Magister to meet the French Navy's carriers-launched jet trainer need.
Structurally strengthened. to Harden it for life at sea, it was also given a more robust undercarriage, plus an arrestor hook for deck landings. Initial Zéphyr carrier trials, involving the Royal Navy's HMS Bulwark and Eagle warships, preceded service entry in October 1959. Equipping 59S (59 Escadrille de Servitude) at Hyéres, Zéphyrs remained operational into the 1990s. Today, this is the only example left flying. It's operated by the Association Zéphyr 28, and is seen here making its air day debut flown by Xavier Houdaille.
