Range: Wild pandas currently live only in the mountain forests of central China - in the provinces of Sichuan, Gansu and
Shaanxi. Their natural habitat is dense bamboo forests.

Protection and Conservation: The giant panda is critically endangered, but thanks to the Chinese government and international organizations that have actively worked to establish and expand sanctuaries, improve panda habitats, and conduct captive breeding programs, the population of pandas in the wild is gradually increasing.

Symbolism: The giant panda is the symbol of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), an international conservation organization created in 1961.
