The ballet "Notre Dame de Paris - Esmeralda" combines music by two composers and innovative choreography. It is based on the novel by Victor Hugo. In the words of the author himself, it is "a picture of fifteenth-century Paris and the entire fifteenth century through the prism of this city." The axis of the novel is the love plot of the archdeacon Claude Frollo to the beautiful gypsy girl Esmralda. The novel, published in 1831, deals with issues of pernicious lust and tolerance that were unusual for the time. There is nothing white or black in the novel, only shades of gray. There is also no unequivocally evil character, and even Froll's cruel deeds can be understood and he evokes sympathy and even sympathy from the reader. It was choreographed by Kiev National Ballet soloist and choreographer Victor Shcherbakov, and on stage we saw soloists from the Kiev National Theater, the National Opera of Ukraine and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, as well as first dancers, soloists, coryphées and the ballet company of the Royal Lviv Ballet.
