Hi everyone! This is Top 3D Shop and in this video we will tell you about the collaborative robots by Hanwha Techwin.
Collaborative robots, also known as cobots are machines designed to interact directly with humans.
Today, the term “cobot” is mainly applied to robots that work alongside humans in a specific workplace. This interaction is completely safe for humans.
Collaborative robots is a great solution for small companies where production lines can be quickly changed and rebuilt. When it comes to speed of integration and readjustment, these machines are indispensable. Collaborative robots can carry out routine tasks and take on complex operations.
Don’t confuse cobots with industrial robotic arms - they may look similar, but at the same time they perform completely different tasks.
Industrial robots can be used to work with technologically complex or specialised systems, as well as in extreme conditions. They often undertake such tasks as palletizing and moving heavy objects.
However, industrial robots have a wide range of weaknesses - high cost, complex integration, closed control system, difficult readjustment and special security requirements.
Collaborative robots don’t have many of the inherent weaknesses of industrial robotic systems.
Cobots can be applied in serial production: in the assembly line, for transportation and quality control. Additional specialized devices allow robots to apply glue, stitch fabrics, as well as undertake welding and soldering. Today, collaborative robots can be used in various areas of expertise: from CNC machine tending to services and entertainment.
Cobots are easy-to-learn devices that can be quickly put to work. Collaborative robots are based on intuitively controlled open systems that are easy to program.
They don’t require a lot of investing at the start, while the payout period is incredibly short.
Finally, these machines are safe for humans. And it’s a very important point, since the purpose of collaborative robots is to work alongside people, not to replace them.
The weaknesses of cobots arise out of their strengths. First of all, these machines don’t have heavy lifting capabilities. Secondly, they are poorly suited for working in extreme conditions. There’s also a really small number of manufacturers that produce collaborative robots. However, it won’t be long until professional brands appear on the market.
One of the most ambitious and promising companies in the segment is Hanwha Techwin. This company was a part of Samsung, but in 2015 it was acquired by the South Korean industrial conglomerate Hanwha.
Hanwha’s first cobot, HCR-5, was introduced in March 2017. Today, the line of robots has two more machines: HCR-3 and HCR-12. By the way, the numbers in the names of Hanwha cobots relate to their capacity in kilograms.
Hanwha’s models also have different reach, which is 630 mm for the low-end model and 1300 mm for HCR-12.
These are the two key indicators that determine the purpose of each of the 3 models. HCR-3 is perfect for working in tight spaces. Its sixth axis has no rotation restrictions, so the cobot has various assembly applications - for example, screw driving.
HCR-5 has the reach of 915 mm, which is equivalent to the average man’s arm. As a result, this model is the most popular, since it can be used for any task that can be performed with the help of cobots. The robot has a cleanroom classification 2, which expands its range of application in electronics manufacturing.
Finally, HCR-12 combines the maximum payload and the largest work radius. This cobot is suitable for loading, unloading and palletizing applications.
All Hanwha collaborative robots can safely interact with humans. Manipulators’ joints have restrictions on speed and torque. Numerous sensors instantly respond to any obstacles that appear in the workspace, and the servo-drivers can stop the machine in a matter of seconds. Hanwha robots also support the virtual safety fence.
The company’s engineers developed the Rodi software. Its intuitive graphical interface together with a touch screen allows users with no special training easily interact with robots.
Our certified engineers will help you integrate collaborative robots into production lines of any complexity. Top 3D Shop specialists carry out a full automation cycle - from feasibility study to start up and adjustment, training, service and post-warranty maintenance.
