This route begins outside the village hall of Mungrisdale where you can pay £2 parking for all day.
The path over the bridge takes you to the first ascent of the day of Souther Fell before a short decent and reascent onto Blencathra itself via Scales Fell.
Multiple valid ways of decent follow over to the lonely Wainwright of Mungrisdale Common before begins the journey home over Bannerdale Crags and Bowscale fell before a very steep and sketchy descent down back into the village.
