This workflow is based on Teknos’ technical guidance for Air Assisted Airless (AAA) spray systems and is demonstrated using AQUATOP waterborne coatings.

The principles apply to any AAA setup – whether you’re spraying joinery every day or setting up a new line.

Air Assisted Airless spraying is a simple system – until small things start going wrong.

A blocked filter.
A worn tip.
Too much pressure.
Paint that hasn’t been fully purged.

Individually, they feel minor. In reality, they’re usually the reason spraying starts to feel unpredictable, wasteful, or frustrating.

AAA spraying works by atomising material through fluid pressure, then stabilising the spray fan with a low-pressure air jacket. When that balance is right, overspray is reduced and the finish becomes predictable. When it isn’t, everything feels harder than it should.

The same applies to cleaning and shutdown. Residual paint, trapped moisture, or neglected filters don’t usually cause problems immediately – they quietly create tomorrow’s blockages, pressure issues, and inconsistent finishes.
