Capping it Out - Tribes 2 Teamwork

Описание к видео Capping it Out - Tribes 2 Teamwork

This video demonstrates the teamwork that goes on during organized capping runs in the game Tribes 2, where the flag matters more than the efforts of any one player. It was inspired mostly by the T2 videos Madskills and The Life of a Capper, both of which made me want to hop back into the game after seven years of absence. The video was created to help show others the experience Tribes 2 can offer, though it may have come out in 2001, few games today get close to massive 96vs96 matches that were played with huge team management. Most of the footage was recorded from Elite Warriors Online (EwO) Friday Night Fights matches during February and April of 2009.

Tribes 2 is unfortunately dead as of November 2009, and only playable on TribesNext. The matches won't be as co-ordinated as the Rebels, Elite Warriors Online, and Agents community skirmishes shown in the video (Plus expect your TN server to be flooded with hackers and lone-wolves).

Tribes:Ascend is currently in beta, and is a ton of fun! Unfortunately, there are no community-servers and the play cap is 32. Nonetheless, it's the only thing worth playing today alongside TF2. If you need a beta key, ask and I will offer you one if I have any.

The songs used in this video are employed under the terms of fair use.

For anyone interested as to how I got the video to be fully HD, here is the process I used.
1. Recorded demo recordings of matches via the Tribes 2 built in demo function.
2. Running PJ's Scripts, namely the Movie Script, the game advanced through demos frame by frame taking a full screenshot each time.
3. With around 100,000 .8MB screenshots per hour of footage (12 hours were used), Quicktime Pro would import the image sequence 32,000 images at a time (the max per encoding in Quicktime 7, @ 30fps (~18 mins).
4. Footage imported into Final Cut Pro 6, I learned how to use the program while making this video.
5. Intro and credits were created with Motion 3, namely it's use of 3d space, animated cameras, and particle emitters.

It took a fair bit of time to get everything converted from screenshots to h.264 videos, but working at Hartland Christian Camp for the summer made it possible, batch rendering 24/7 for a summer while I worked in the mountains. Everything was rendered at 1280x720 resolution, so it should be a full 720p high definition video.
