How inFlow Helps This Chocolatier Control Manufacturing Costs

Описание к видео How inFlow Helps This Chocolatier Control Manufacturing Costs

When new owners took over this small organic chocolate company, they knew the first thing they needed to do was implement #inventorymanagementsoftware. With inFlow, their team can create work orders, track the inputs and outputs of their manufacturing process and even calculate their #costofgoodssold (#cogs). And that's just scratching the surface of what inFlow can do.

At Sjaak's, we believe in good people, good chocolate, and a better world.

My name is Nicha Leaser, and I am the president and CEO of Sjaak's Organic Chocolates. My family actually purchased Sjaak's Organic Chocolates right at the start of the pandemic. Over the past several years, there's been a myriad of challenges. The company had been in business for nearly two decades, and they weren't really using an inventory system. It was very much they had, you know, pallets of ingredients, and if they ran low on sugar, they ordered more sugar. We knew right away that we needed to implement some sort of inventory management system.

I would say that every team uses the different areas of inFlow, whether it's our production team. They're purchasing ingredients; they're creating work orders to create the product. Our packaging team also checks inFlow to see how many boxes do we have left, how many candy pads. Our sales and fulfillment team also regularly uses inFlow because we enter in the sales orders, we fulfill our sales orders using it. It allows us to understand our COGS, our cost of goods sold because we order a pallet of sugar and we have pallets of cocoa butter and we're making batches of chocolate 800lbs at a time.

But when you want to trickle that down and calculate how much does this box of chocolates cost? That's a lot of math. That's a lot of Google spreadsheets. But to be able to have a system that can calculate that out based on the percentage of the components that are going into the product, that's huge. So it's a crucial component of how we run our business. We have people in multiple locations, our factories in Blue Lake. We had marketing; we had people in different offices. So being able to see in one interface and track, you know, what inputs are coming in, what does it cost, how much is going out.

It was incredible. So that was a game changer for us in starting this company. It was huge to be able to find inFlow, as you know, a small business starting out, to be able to have a system to track all of our inputs and outputs. It's definitely a tool that's open on probably every computer, every day.
