Ever since I started watching GMM in early 2023, it’s been in the back of my mind that I really wanted to animate something from the show. But my problem was that Rhett & Link say and do so many funny things, that it’s hard to narrow down a single clip that deserves to be animated. I wanted it to be a clip where I could include a lot of character acting, but also more visuals beyond the desk.

In September    • What State Is This Song About?   popped up in my recommended (it has a habit of doing that) and I said hey! It’s a nice 70 seconds so not terribly long but a solid length anyway. I love all the songs in this More :D But the New York one spoke to me.

I even included Link’s Louisiana dance from the same episode (on the ferry) Plus! I learned that there were 5 boroughs in New York! In Link’s defense I ALSO said both Ellis Island and Long Island before I said Staten 😊 (Long Island really IS longer than it seems)

Fun fact: The blue color of the map’s water is Hex 007BA7, which Link specifically says is his favorite color here: (@5:23)    • Can You Name These Shades of Blue?  

This took me around 10 months and idk how many hours, a couple hundred I guess, I wasn’t keeping track.
