Nucleus division is the fundamental principle on which the phacoemulsification process is based upon. We want to break the nucleus into smaller fragments which can then be emulsified and aspirated through the small bore of the phaco tip.
There are 3 principle techniques of nucleus division.
1. The Classical 4 quadrant technique
2The stop & Chop Technique
3.The Direct Chop Technique
a) Horrizontal Chop
b) Vertical Chop

In this video , a brief overview of the various techniques of nucleus division along with few practical tips will be demonstrated.
