Short Sale Vs. Foreclosure. Where can I get a better deal? This is a common question that I'm asked often and I do see some value, or potential savings when it comes to these two options. However, which would most likely result in some sort of a discount? In order to determine that you have to consider several things like how the homes are priced, who decides what an acceptable offer is, what additional fees could be incurred and don't forget about the condition of the home now vs when you might take possession.

Over the years I have found that short sales tend to get a bad rap. People tend to avoid them. But why? In my experience and from talking with clients, a lot of people are concerned with the amount of time it can take to facilitate a short sale. Some can take 6 months or more. Heck, a lot of them don't prove to be successful and I personally believe that is because too many Realtors who lack the tools and knowledge to facilitate a short sale are taking the listings when they shouldn't be.
