Female friendships are infinitely complex. And they are not always pleasant, joyful, or forgiving. I've had many experiences in my life with women in friendships that have torn me down. That have left me feeling abandoned, confused, hurt. They almost never start that way. (They also definitely don't have to end that way.) I first want to add that my female friendships are some of the most rewarding and fulfilling aspects of my life. But we've all had those bumps in the road and boy, do they teach us about ourselves.

The subconscious can feel some insane, irrational things when two women become close. Jess and I really wanted to examine this. Women often focus on what is not said, what is not communicated between each other. And sometimes what we feel may be totally incorrect, misplaced, and barely acknowledged. My life has taught me to speak from the heart, be willing to show my vulnerability and compassion for others, and to cherish the friends that accept me as I accept them.

This is our meditation on some of the darker feelings that can be born from competition, envy, distrust, shame, and many others things we may have to feel from others. This piece, in my opinion, wasn't developed to the point that we wanted it to be. We just didn't have the time. But I'm still proud of the journey it took to get us here. To try and share at least true hints of the kind of movement we had in the rehearsal room late at night. It was a wonderful journey of truth. I thank Jess for exploring this uncomfortable scary space with me.
