Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror game with stealth elements, created by The Creative Assembly and published by Sega. It is part of the Alien series and takes inspiration from the original film’s tense, atmospheric style.

The story unfolds in 2137, 15 years after the events of Alien and decades before Aliens. Players take on the role of Amanda Ripley, who is searching for answers about her mother, Ellen Ripley’s, disappearance. Amanda’s investigation brings her to the space station Sevastopol, where the flight recorder from the Nostromo is believed to be located. However, the station is already overrun by a deadly Xenomorph.

Rather than focusing on action, the developers crafted the game to reflect the slow-burn suspense and survival tone of Ridley Scott’s original Alien. The game differentiates itself from many other titles in the franchise by featuring a single, unkillable Alien that stalks players throughout the experience, emphasizing stealth and strategy over direct confrontation.

For those who pre-ordered the game, special downloadable content included two additional missions: "Crew Expendable" and "Last Survivor." These missions allow players to experience key scenes from the original Alien movie. Iconic characters like Ripley (voiced by Sigourney Weaver), Dallas (Tom Skerritt), Lambert (Veronica Cartwright), Brett (Harry Dean Stanton), and Parker (Yaphet Kotto) return, voiced by the original actors. Although John Hurt (Kane) and Ian Holm (Ash) did not reprise their roles, Ash appears with a new voice actor.

In "Crew Expendable," players can choose to play as Ripley, Dallas, or Parker, each with a unique perspective and set of resources, as the crew attempts to drive the Alien into the airlock. The second mission, "Last Survivor," takes place during the climactic ending of Alien. Here, players control Ripley as she initiates the Nostromo’s self-destruct sequence and escapes aboard the Narcissus shuttle. These missions were made available depending on the retailer and region.
