Father Derk and son Leon together in my little boat, hunting for anything that felt like biting...
I know very well that catching a “tubbie” (small tuna) is already a big adventure for ten-year-old boys…
And later, when we were trolling a “tubbie” across the bank…
Well, we saw a good splash behind it — an attack!
And Father Derk got to battle a beautiful wahoo.

A fight with a wahoo never lasts too long — they’re sprinters, and their rocket fuel burns out fast.

A bit later, when we made a drift near the yellow marker buoy, the rod suddenly twitched…
Aiaiai — that one was on the line for a moment but missed the hook!
Five seconds later, the rod bent beautifully again…
And Father Derk was back in action.

Yeah… and after a few seconds you could feel this one was full of energy.
I’m pretty sure these yellowfins have a nuclear reactor inside them, constantly pumping out power.

The fight lasted so long that the ten-year-old started wondering why fishing was supposed to be fun…
And honestly, I can’t really blame him — watching two old men pretending this is “great fun” while grimacing like…
“Did it really have to be this big again?”

When the yellowfin finally came alongside the boat, Leon instantly understood why it took so long.
Yup — just wait until this kid’s old enough… he’s had a real taste of it now!
