I did this performance at the Peace Chapel (Franciscan church) in Sremski Karlovci, Serbia, on September 8, 1991, when the war in Croatia (then still part of Yugoslavia) was on its peak.
In order to invoke peace, in the place where a historical peace treaty was signed in 1699 between great world powers (Treaty of Carlowitz). I was breaking huge knives aimed toward four cardinal points saying "I declare peace", throwing their pieces to the ground, and lighting candles on their places.
In the audience there was a big number of Croats, who make a great part of Sr. Karlovci population, Serbs and all other different nationalities gathered in this prayer for peace. At the end bells started ringing, people were crossing themselves, some started crying.
As a souvenir to this event I was distributing my rubber-stamp imprints with message of love and peace to the audience after the performance.
This recording was made and broadcasted by TV Novi Sad at that time, and at the end I added a segment with printing stamps to the audience.
