What is ONDC ?

ONDC is a new initiative from Government of India which enables sellers to list their products on ONDC suported platforms like Paytm , Meesho , Pincode, MyStore etc and reach their customers by paying very minimum (2-4%) commission.

ONDC can be considered as UPI of e-commerce... Like UPI payments can be done via any app supporting UPI , we would now be able to purchase products via apps which support ONDC.

These products could be online food, groceries, clothes, electronics, electrical appliances etc.

At the moment, Swiggy and Zomato are the market leaders when it comes to online food deliveries. These apps charge 25-35% commission from the restaurants whereas ONDC only charges 2-4% depending upon the product. This gives additional benefits to the restaurants as well as end customers and the food/product becomes cheaper for us...

For me, this is a killer technology Government of India is backing, and would result in favor of customer and help us save some money and also destroy monopoly...

The only challenge I see now is about the delivery ecosystem which Swiggy, Zomato has already developed since last few years...
