Dr. Nguyen performs the necklift to create a thinner neck with a better angle to the neck and jaw line. This procedure involves liposuction, excision of submental fat pad and a platysmaplasty. A platysmaplasty is the tightening of the neck muscles to create a more defined neck. The entire procedure is performed through a small incision underneath the chin.

Some patients may first notice signs of aging in their neck, making them appear older than they are. Dr. Nguyen performs neck lift surgery ("platysmaplasty") to alleviate these symptoms and help patients achieve the younger appearance they desire. Neck lift surgery may be beneficial for patients who are unhappy with a variety of flaws in their neck region, such as: Excessive skin Wrinkling caused by excess fat Neck muscles that are loose Asymmetry Neck lift surgery can rejuvenate and tighten the neck, leaving patients looking as young as they feel, whether it is due to aging or extreme weight loss. Neck lift surgery can be combined with other procedures for patients who have more diffuse and severe signs of aging, such as brow lift surgery ("forehead lift surgery"), eyelid surgery ("blepharoplasty"), and facelift surgery ("rhytidectomy"). Dr. Nguyen will be able to recommend the best course of action for your goals after thoroughly evaluating your concerns. Steps in the Procedure To ensure a pain-free experience, general anesthesia is usually required. Dr. Nguyen will begin by making incisions behind the ears and/or beneath the chin to remove excess skin and fat. To achieve a tighter neck appearance, the neck muscles ("platysma") may also be released and/or altered. When the neck sculpting is finished, Dr. Nguyen will re-drape the skin in its new position and suture the incisions behind the ears and/or beneath the chin. If the patient chooses to have additional procedures performed, the surgery will typically last two to three hours or longer.
