It was in 2012 when Elon musk showed interest in making an electric truck, although it didn't become a serious thing in Tesla's headquarters until 2017. It was in 2019 when we first got a taste of what it could look like. And it definitely blew some people's mind, the futuristic and hard but at the same time elegant look. It was a hit. Let's take a look at how Tesla's cybertruck has evolved since its unveiling.

The Tesla cybertruck has been a subject of public intrigue since we got to see the first prototype in November 2019. When Elon musk presented the futuristic truck and its features. Although Elon and his team started working on this truck in 2017, the first prototype wouldn't come out until 2019 in this presentation.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the cybertruck is getting to see its subtle modifications through time. Early photos showcased features such as door handles and side mirrors, which were later removed.

Beginning in November 2019, Tesla started accepting Cybertruck reservations with a refundable US$100 deposit. On November 23, 2019, Elon tweeted that Tesla had received 146,000 reservations in the first 1.5 days after the unveiling. That number would later be updated to 250,000 by November 26

In December 2021, an updated prototype was spotted undergoing testing. This newer prototype could be distinguished from the 2019 concept by the presence of a large windshield wiper and the omission of the truck's front light bar.

During 2022, many sightings of the cybertruck were posted on social media. These candid photos and videos provided a natural look at how this distinguished truck would look like roaming in the streets downtown.

These photos and clips not only stir discussions about its aesthetics but also promote analysis of its functionality. The adaptive air suspension, the expansive vault-like truck bed, and its purportedly bulletproof exterior have all been the main focal points of this truck.

In November 2023, head designer of the cyber truck drove a matte black version of the car to a Malibu cars and coffee event. This late prototype version had some not so nice things said about it. For example, car journalist Daniel Golson who saw it in person was flabbergasted I'm his report to jalopnik.

He wrote " I've been around hundreds of prototype cars in my career, ranging from early test mules to near-production prototypes, and I’ve never seen an automaker proudly present something of this poor quality, especially not this late in development. “

Tesla was initially aiming to bring the vehicle into production in 2021. After a series of delays, mainly due to the use of stainless steel for the exterior. Steel is incredibly difficult to bend and manipulate.

As of December 2023, the cybertruck became available although only in North America.

As of January 2024, the cybertruck is sold out, and we have to wait until 2027 for placing new reservations.
