This video is a recording of a LIVE online educational program about the ‘Carer’s Alert Thermometer’ (CAT), delivered by Professor Samar Aoun, Perron Institute Research Chair in Palliative Care at the University of Western Australia. The online session hosted on 27 February 2024 was attended by MND advisors and healthcare professionals from MND Associations and MND Clinics across Australia. This is one of six sessions delivered for this program in 2023-24.

Funded by FightMND, the development, implementation and evaluation of this Educational Program forms part of the overarching project – ‘A National Person-Centred Approach to Family Carer Needs Assessment & Support in MND Community Care: Translation into Practice, Using the Carer’s Alert Thermometer (CAT)’.

A demonstration of how the CAT Tool may be used with family carers featuring developers of the CAT Tool, Professor Mary O’Brien and Dr Katherine Knighting from Edge Hill University is embedded within the video.

This video has been made available online as a resource for healthcare professionals who are working with people living with MND and their family carers, and wish to use it for a Train the Trainer option in their organisations
