Last month, Brian Harding, a 30-year veteran of the Akron Police Department was named as Akron's new police chief. Akron Mayor Shammas Malik's search for a chief was controversial. Some city leaders and community members were dismayed that the search didn't include external candidates and add diversity to the process.

On today's show, we will hear from Chief Harding on his new role and how he will approach the challenges ahead.

Later we'll talk to the heads of the Akron NAACP and Freedom Bloc about the recent neighborhood shooting that killed one person and injured 27 others.
