Here is a recap of my solo overnight camping trip at the Pine Straw primitive campsite in The Myakka State Forest.

Myakka State Forest Primitive Campsites are within the Myakka State Forest (Sarasota County), about 1-hour south of Sarasota, FL. It includes 4 separate campsites including Myakka River, Flatwoods, Watering Hole and Pine Straw. These primitive campsites are scattered throughout. This particular site, Pine Straw is about 2.5 miles from the main trailhead via the south loop and a .7 mile connecter trail. It is a very easy hike but I believe it would likely be very wet during Florida's rainy season.
