Ok so basically Grian was taken from Evo by the Watchers- ergo taking Grian from his family (Jimmy & Pearl). Pearl was devastated and desperately spent years looking for him- eventually she and Jimmy were on a public Server Hub when Pearl tries to get Jimmy to help her with one of her plans to go find Grian.

(Little head-canon of mine that everyone on Evo kind of just assumed that Grian was killed by the Watchers or something except for Pearl)

Anyways Jimmy tries to get Pearl to drop it and she runs off, Jimmy thinking she just needs space, decides to just wait for her to come back. However while Pearl is crying (smh middle child behavior honestly) a Watcher disguised as a player shows up and starts trying to strike a deal with Pearl.

(Mind you, this takes place a little after Season 6 of Hermitcraft starts so Grian is no longer with the Watchers at this point)

The Watchers want Pearl to help them find the locations of some of the Evolution players, that way they can get their revenge (they don’t tell her that part). Pearl obviously refuses at first, but when the Watchers reveal that they no longer know where Grian is, they offer to help Pearl find him in exchange for her to betray her friends.

Eventually the admin of the Server they are on discovers that Watchers have breached the firewall and alerts all of the players of their presence. Jimmy hears this and immediately goes to find Pearl. Who- in her head sees no problem with what she’s doing because even if her old friends do end up paying a price that’s on them and at least she’ll have her brother back.

She makes the deal yada yada, the Watchers take her with her, and Jimmy is left with no family left (because from his perspective obviously Pearl agreed to something with the Watchers but they took her, so Jimmy doesn’t think she directly did something wrong).

Basically Pearl gets the ability to shapeshift along with other things and on her quest of looking for the Evo players (and Grian) she gets invited to join Empires. She reunites with Jimmy who is wary of her at first but happy to see her nonetheless, he introduces her to Lizzie (Lizzie’s only technically related to Jimmy in this but whatever) and all is well. However when Pearl lets the Watchers know where Jimmy is (cuz when they took her she didn’t know where he went afterwards) the Watchers give him the Canary Curse.

Jimmy doesn’t find out about the Canary Curse until Last Life (that’s when his wings started growing) but he’s had it since Empires as it was his fault that everything fell apart and all the Empires were destroyed.

Also I personally headcanon that Lizzie didn’t lose her entire memory during the rapture, she remembered her loved ones and her family just not that she was the ocean queen and a fish lmao.

I’ll make another video soon explaining how Grian found out about Pearl and them reuniting specifically but you’ll have to wait for that mwahahaahahahaahhaha- insert choking sounds here ow
