The All India Federation of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers (AIFAWH) has strongly condemned the Union Budget 2026–27 for its complete silence on the plight, rights, and wages of Anganwadi, ASHA, Mid Day Meal and other scheme workers.
Despite serving millions of children, pregnant women, and communities across India, scheme workers have received no salary hike since 2018, no social security, and no pension. The budget also fails to improve infrastructure, nutrition cost norms, and working conditions under schemes like ICDS, POSHAN 2.0, Mid Day Meal Scheme, and National Health Mission.

No increase in Anganwadi workers’ and helpers’ remuneration
No implementation of Supreme Court order on gratuity
No proper allocation for nutrition cost revision
Poor infrastructure in Anganwadi centres
Digitisation leading to exclusion instead of inclusion
