On 29 July 1981, an estimated 750 million people tuned in worldwide to witness the wedding of Prince Charles, Prince of Wales to Lady Diana Spencer. Around 600,000 lined the streets of London to watch the spectacular procession pass from Buckingham Palace to St Paul’s Cathedral and back again. To mark the occasion, we have decided to share nearly three hours of the day’s coverage – in real-time. From the moment the first carriages of the procession left for the cathedral to the iconic appearance of the bride and groom – along with the rest of the Royal Family – on Buckingham Palace balcony. See the parents of the groom, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, greeted with deafening cheers from adoring crowds.
