We love currants and grow them in our Permaculture System. They are good producers that work in part shade. They are juglone tolerant and easy to propagate. We also like the fact that they are early season food producers and they will feed not only us but animals. They are also medicinal. What’s not to love? The only warning comes with the fact that ribes are the alternate host for white pine blister rust so please pay attention to that.
