In this video, I'm showing you how to create the MOST adorable Christmas nutcracker drums that you're absolutely going to love!

Here's the deal—you know those cute nutcrackers from CVS that are only $29.99 to $39.99? Well, I'm going to show you how to make the perfect drum to go with them! And the best part? You can make these drums for next to nothing using hat boxes from Goodwill (I got a whole set for $5.49!) or paper mache boxes from Hobby Lobby (a 3-pack for just $16.99!).
This is such a fun and budget-friendly way to create absolutely STUNNING Christmas décor that looks like it came from a high-end boutique. I'm talking black and white checks, gorgeous metallic gold, that beautiful deep red color, and of course—bling! These drums are perfect for displaying with your nutcrackers, using as part of your Christmas mantel décor, or even selling at craft fairs (trust me, these are BIG sellers!).

In this tutorial, I'm walking you through the ENTIRE process from start to finish—no prep work done ahead of time! You'll see exactly how I paint, measure, and decorate these drums, including some of my favorite techniques and products. Plus, I'm sharing some incredible tips for getting that professional look without spending a fortune.

Whether you have a small nutcracker or a huge one, you can customize these drums to any size. The possibilities are endless, and honestly, they're just SO much fun to make!

SUPPLIES YOU'LL NEED:

Hat boxes (Goodwill, thrift stores) OR paper mache round boxes from Hobby Lobby (3-pack for $16.99)
White chalk paint (Folk Art Adirondack white or similar)
Black and white checked scrapbook paper or fabric
Red paint (for creating depth)
Black paint (for distressing)
Gold metallic paint OR gold pigment powder mixed with top coat/sealer
Country Chic top coat or similar clear sealer
Mod Podge or decoupage medium
Pearl wrap or gold chain trim (Dollar Tree - by Floral Garden)
Gold cabochons or flat-back wooden circles (spray painted gold)
Hot glue gun and glue sticks (Surebond recommended) OR E6000/B7000 adhesive
Paintbrushes
Scissors
Measuring tape or ruler
Sandpaper (optional, for distressing)
Finger protector or gloves (for hot glue work)
Rhinestones or bling (optional)
