The Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, the Book of the Dead, just got foolishly read aloud at the local radio station leaving the local populace ripe for supernatural possession and havoc. Cue our dauntless everyman hero, Ash Williams, on hand to take names and battle the deadite hordes.

This is just an attempt to combine some mods into an Evil Dead arcade game, giving us a decent challenge, some immersion and an Evil Dead theme throughout. Hopefully this manages to achieve just that, hope you enjoy the results.

Let's make a start with Xenosols's "Army Of Darkness: A simple gun" mod which provides a basic weapon set ideal as a basis for this combo, being primarily based from the 1992 movie "Army of Darkness". It features a custom HUD along with Ash's default weapon set, possessing good spritework, sounds and the Necronomicon is a great addon as a BFG alternative.
In addition, SubSector's "EVILSND" will provide a sound addon mod for Ash's invaluable one liner's from Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. So that's a relevant gameplay mod paired with Ash's witty dialogue to take on the unleashed Necronomicon, groovy.

Next up are the immersive effects to build the atmosphere, to lend to the horror genre and toward effects Evil Dead usually applies, achievable since most these mods possess customization options for numerous features. So to start, for sound there is the terrific "LiveReverb" mod which changes the pitch of sounds respective to the room the player is in.
For movement effects, the "MBlur" v1.04 mod, provides a custom blur to player movements, making gameplay more frantic, adding motion blurring the player's sight with their immediate movements, for example like sprinting or jumping.There is also "TiltPlusPlus" v1.65 for camera tilting effects for again movement and turning with "Universal Weapon Sway" to add a custom swaying to selected weapons.
Towards providing horror elements, Nash's "Nashgore NEXT" v1.0 adds new blood/gib effects with great customization options, ideal for the over the top horror effects the series features provided the settings are adjusted correctly. Lastly, the "Fog Effects" mod allowed us to create an ambient supernatural setting with a surrounding customized fog, allowing us to set a color and density to it. Although, after a quick test, the "Flashlight++" mod v 9.1 is a vital inclusion, the effects and map make several dark environments though there might be notable lag so if you try this yourself take that in mind.

Our monster replacement mod this time is Hell_Pike's "The Mandrake's Cry" whereby every enemy is replaced by a zombie. Now depending on the difficulty set their numbers and speed will greatly vary though don't let that fool you, these foes are still formidable. Each posseses a hitbox and aiming is a requirement to truly defeat them, headshots matter here, as the loss of limbs will never stop them.

Finally, we need a map for an overrun urban setting ideal for a deadite invasion and I think Reinchard's "Dawn of Reality" made for a decent map, to a point. It is a singular, sprawling map, being based on a real-life city, Bytom in Poland, at least to the extent of engine limitations. It includes custom textures, 3D models, making it an immersive, atmospheric map.
However, and this is due to the enemy monster mod used here, progression isn't achievable; the spawns will activate but it seems the events will not trigger as intended. So it might be best to stick to a one to one enemy monster replacement mod to avoid this issue.
