While manufacturing an export item, a lot of imported or domestically procured raw materials/inputs are used. These raw materials might suffer a lot of duties or taxes, which adds up to the final cost of the resultant product and makes it uncompetitive in the global market.

To offset these taxes or duties, GOI has introduced various Duty exemption and remission schemes with a single motto that “Only products should be exported and not taxes”. One such scheme is the Advance Authorisation scheme. The AA scheme is a duty exemption scheme covered under chapter 4 of Foreign Trade Policy.
