Bharat Forge, an Indian forging and advanced engineering company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK-based autonomous cargo drone manufacturer Windracers. This partnership focuses on the deployment, localization, and application of Windracers' ULTRA Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in India. The collaboration, announced at the DSEI UK 2025 exhibition, is set for an initial two-year term.

Key Aspects of the Agreement
The partnership is strategically important for both military and civil sectors in India.

Technology Transfer: The agreement will advance aerospace technology transfer and innovation between the UK and India, aligning with the goals of the UK-India Free Trade Agreement and the India-UK Vision 2035.

Dual-Use Capabilities: The Windracers ULTRA UAV is a dual-use platform, meaning it has applications in both defense and civil operations. For the Indian military, it's expected to be used for:

Carrier On Board Delivery (COD) for the Indian Navy.

Critical logistics support for the Indian Army and Air Force, especially in challenging environments like high-altitude, maritime, and remote terrains.

Localization: The MoU includes joint trials and a focus on localizing the manufacturing of the UAV in India, which supports the nation's push for indigenous defense production.

The Windracers ULTRA UAV
The ULTRA UAV is a heavy-lift, fixed-wing cargo drone with proven capabilities in various environments, including missions in Antarctica and Ukraine.

Payload and Range: It has a payload capacity of up to 150 kg and a range of up to 1,000 km.

Durability and Performance: The drone is designed to operate from rough or improvised surfaces and is built for routine Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations. It has an endurance of 6 to 7 hours.

Autopilot System: The aircraft uses a proprietary autopilot system based on a "Zero Single Points of Failure" philosophy, ensuring a high level of reliability and safety.
